Detroit Woman Set On Fire During Argument Dies
DETROIT (AP) — Authorities say a Detroit woman who was severely burned after gasoline was poured on her and set afire during an argument with her boyfriend has died.
Wayne County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Maria Miller said she learned Friday that 45-year-old Charlotte Jackson had died. Jackson was being treated for burns over about 40 percent of her body.
Miller says new charges are expected to be filed against Jackson's boyfriend, 59-year-old Donald Chapman of Detroit. Chapman was arraigned Sunday by video and is accused of assault with intent to murder, torture, arson and domestic violence.
He was arrested after the June 6 assault in an apartment on the city's east side.
A judge ordered him jailed without bond and set a hearing for June 20. He's expected to receive a court-appointed attorney.
