Detroit Woman Gets 2-4 Years In Nebraska Pot Case
A Lincoln judge has given a 41-year-old Detroit woman two-to-four years in prison for helping haul 727 pounds of pot across the country.
The Lincoln Journal Star says that Sarah McGee indicated at her sentencing Thursday that she intends to appeal. She was convicted in August, at her second trial. In February, a jury couldn't decide whether McGee knew about the plans of her two traveling companions to carry the 35 bales of marijuana from Arizona to Michigan. She had testified that she didn't.
The three were arrested after an Interstate 80 traffic stop on June 1, 2009, in Lincoln. Her companions were convicted as well. Stuart Howard was given 10-to-14 years in prison; Anthony Laws got 8-to-12 years. Both men also are from Detroit.
