Detroit Tigers Pitchers And Catchers Report To Spring Training
Yes it may be cold and there is a bunch of snow on the ground but baseball is right around the corner. Pitchers and catchers have reported! The first spring training game for the Tigers is a week from Friday, February 25. One of the most important things which will determine success for the Tigers will be starting pitching. Justin Verlander will once again be the ace of the rotation, returning from a 19 win season. Max Scherzer really stepped up at the end of the season and seems to have potential to be an All-Star quality pitcher. Now here come the questions. Phil Coke hasn't started a Major League game but was looking for anyone he could find that tell him he couldn't do it, if confidence turns into wins then he should do very well. Brad Penny signed a deal with the Tigers in the off season and looks to be the fifth starter and rebound from some injuries. The biggest question will be the young Rick Porcello who has shown flashes of brilliance. 97.1 The Ticket was able to talk with Rick about the upcoming season during the Tigers Caravan. Take a look at the video below where Porcello talks about what it will take for the team and him to have a good season.
