Detroit Shoppe Reopens Downtown For World Series

DETROIT (WWJ) - In honor of the Detroit Tigers playing at home in the World Series this weekend, Somerset Collection is re-opening its Detroit Shoppe on Woodward Avenue.

Nathan Forbes, with Forbes Company, says this is an exciting time for the city.

"This is a way for us to extend the Detroit Shoppe brand and continue to build a brand of Detroit, and kind of on a world stage. And it gives people the opportunity to celebrate people, the places, the products that have made our city a great brand," Forbes told WWJ Newsradio 950's Zahra Huber. "Detroit is really on a rebirth to becoming a national brand again, like some of the other major cities that we're used to in the United States."

Forbes said up also up for sale will be local products including Made In Detroit t-shirts, Faygo cookbooks, vintage photos and posters of the city, Fathead wall graphics with Tigers players and logos, and other collectibles.

"It's nice to be able to bring some of the iconic brands that are part of Detroit's history back to the city of Detroit," Forbes said.

You will find the Detroit Shoppe at 1261 Woodward Ave. between Grand River/State and Gratiot in downtown Detroit Saturday and Sunday Oct. 27 and 28 from 12 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Parking will be available in the Premier Parking Garage across the street from The Detroit Shoppe and the Compuware Garage.

A percentage of the proceeds from sales will be donated to charity.
