Detroit Schools Feature Ethnic Diversity At Expo
DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit school district is putting on events at four schools highlighting a range of ethnic groups within the system.
The Detroit Public Schools' first annual Taste of DPS Multicultural Expo takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at four schools.
The district says the events feature the various cultures found in the system, including Hispanic, Bangladeshi, Hmong, African, African-American and Middle Eastern.
It says participants "will experience international cultures, taste cultural food, receive ... gifts from community partners, and have the opportunity to buy Michigan grown vegetables."
Amelia Earhart Elementary-Middle School will feature Hispanic culture, Davison Elementary-Middle School will feature Bangladeshi and Hmong cultures, Marcus Garvey Academy will feature African and African-American cultures, and Gardner Elementary School will feature Middle Eastern culture.
