Detroit Red Wings Notes And Quotes 5-3-11

--The Sharks have outshot the Wings in each of the first two games and by a cumulative total of 83-59. They are throwing pucks to the net from everywhere, something Detroit players said the Wings need to do. Coach Mike Babcock also believes his forwards haven't been physical enough on San Jose's defense or created enough traffic in front of goalie Antti Niemi.

--Babcock talked before the series about his team needing to stay away from scrums after the whistle, believing it's just wasted energy and can lead to penalties. But the players didn't listen in Game 2 as they got involved in rough stuff after the whistle. It cost them early in the third period when Tomas Holmstrom was penalized for roughing, negating a Detroit power play that had 1:23 remaining.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"We need to score more than one goal a game. We're having chances. That's not a problem. They've been doing a good job boxing us out, and we haven't really gotten to the second chances." -- Wings forward Johan Franzen.
