Detroit Red Wings Notes And Quotes 5-13-11
--Nicklas Lidstrom said he will take his time to decide whether to return next season or retire. Many in the organization believe he will return for a 20th season because he's still playing at a high level, he's healthy and the team will continue to be competitive. He has a chance to win his seventh Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman next month. Lidstrom will decide well before July 1, the start of free agency.
--The playoffs were a coming of age for goaltender Jimmy Howard. He was consistently strong in both rounds, giving his team a chance to win every game. He showed tremendous growth during his second playoff run after an inconsistent regular season. His performance gives the team much hope for the future.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"It's disappointing losing, no matter how you cut it, but it's disappointing losing coming back the way we did, being down 3-0, playing real hard and believing in ourselves, finding a way to force Game 7 and just coming up short." -- Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom.
