Detroit Red Wings Notes And Quotes 5-11-11
--With Johan Franzen unable to play because of a sore left ankle that's hampered him since the first round, the Wings called on veteran Mike Modano to make his series debut. Modano, a healthy scratch in eight of the first nine playoff games, added some speed and fresh legs, playing on a line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom. He took the majority of the faceoffs for Datsyuk, who is nursing a sore wrist, and won six of nine draws.
--D Niklas Kronwall's physical play is taking a toll on the Sharks. Kronwall leveled Dany Heatley in Game 3, causing the big forward to miss a few shifts. In Game 5, Kronwall delivered a crushing check on Ryane Clowe. Apparently, that was the reason Clowe stayed home for Game 6 with an undisclosed upper-body injury. Kronwall isn't big, but he knows when to step up and he has great leverage on his hits.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"We had a one-game-at-a-time approach when we were down 3-0. It's going to be the same thing going out there. Just got to win one more game. They're going to come after us even more." -- Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom.
