Detroit Police Search For Masked Gunmen Who Killed Teen
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are searching for two suspects after a 16-year-old was shot and killed on Detroit's southwest side.
The shooting happened Thursday morning near West Vernor Highway and Sharon Street, just north of I-75.
The teen was apparently walking through an alley with friends when two people wearing ski masks walked up, pointed guns specifically at the teen and started shooting.
Anna Bailey told WWJ's Mike Campbell she was at a gas station across the street when she heard gunshots and ran to see what happened.
"When I first approached the kid, he was kind of gargling on his blood and all I seen was the blood coming from his nose. I had then realized that he had a bullet hole to the chest," she said. "He wasn't breathing, had a very faint pulse, and all I could do is call 911 for him."
EMS crews arrived on the scene and rushed the teen to a local hospital where he later died.
Police say they are looking for two suspects, but haven't released any additional details.
An investigation is ongoing.
