Detroit Police Search For 2011 Murder Suspect
DETTROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are asking the public for help in locating a 25-year-old man wanted in the 2011 murder of a man whose body was found after a fire at a vacant garage.
A warrant was signed Wednesday charging Antowan Stitts with murder. Investigators are now looking for Stitts and believe he could be in the Detroit area.
Stitts is accused of murdering a 20-year-old back in September 2011. Firefighters found the victim's body after extinguishing a fire at a vacant garage in the 20300 block of Barlow, near 8 Mile Road and Grosebeck Highway on the city's northeast side.
While initial investigations turned up few clues, police are now saying they found blood outside the garage and are able to tie Stitts to the crime.
Stitts is about 5-feet 8-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on Stitts' whereabouts is asked to call Detroit police 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You can also submit a tip online at www.1800speakup.org, or text "CSM" and your tip to CRIMES (274637).
