Detroit Police Gun Buy Back Program
The city of Detroit is continuing its efforts to get weapons off the streets. The Detroit Police Department will pay cash to people who turn in guns during the department's gun buy back program, Thursday.
Police will accept unloaded weapons on a first-come, first-served basis from 9am to 4pm at Second Ebenezer Church, located at 14601 Dequindre, Detroit, MI 48212.
Non-working guns are worth $25; operational guns will fetch $50. And police will pay up to $200 for assault weapons. Police say the weapons have to be unloaded and no questions will be asked.
It's DPD's second gun buy back program this year. About 750 weapons were turned in over eight hours during the first program on September 2.
