Pipe Bomb Found In Home On Detroit's Eastside
DETROIT (WWJ) - A domestic violence dispute leads Detroit Police to the discovery of a live pipe bomb. About eight homes were evacuated early Monday morning on Detroit's eastside on Holcomb Street near Harper after police say they found a pipe bomb inside a home.
Police officials say they were responding to a domestic violence call in which a woman says she was assaulted by her stepfather. Inspector Don Johnson with the Detroit Police Department tells WWJ's Vickie Thomas when officers entered the home they found a 12-inch pipe bomb along with several other weapons. The device has now been rendered safe, according to police. However, Inspector Johnson tells WWJ they are still searching for the suspect.
Officers with the Detroit Police Bomb Squad were seen at the home in full protective gear. Several fire trucks and EMS were also on the scene. Stay with WWJ Newsradio 950 as we continue to follow this developing story.
