Detroit Police Ask Students To Name New Horse
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Detroit Police Department is calling on Detroit Public School students for help in naming the latest four-legged addition to the force.
The department has a new horse as part of its mounted unit, and he needs a new name.
Detroit public and charter school students in first through sixth grades are being asked to submit suggestions. Other members of the mounted unit are named Wynn, Baby, Tiny and Elmo.
Interim Chief of Police Chester Logan will select the winner, who will be invited to the mounted unit's barn for the naming ceremony -- which will include placing the new name plate over the horse's stall.

Entrants should include their name, telephone number and the suggested name of the horse.
The deadline for submission is December 20, 2012.
