Detroit Pistons Dancer Auditions - July 21 and 22
AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - The Detroit Pistons dance team is looking for dancers who are talented, outgoing and energetic when auditions are held for the 2013-14 Detroit Pistons Dancers on Sunday, July 21 and Monday, July 22 at The Palace of Auburn Hills and Great Lakes Golf & Sports Complex.
Dance team members perform during games and at halftime alongside some of the biggest names in music including Taio Cruz, Flo Rida, Wyclef Jean, T-Pain, Gladys Knight and Hammer.
Dancers will be judged on dance ability, athleticism, personality, self-confidence, and the ability to be a team player — qualities that embody being a Detroit Pistons Dancer. Participants must be 18 years or older by October 1, 2013.
All participants are required to wear dance attire and must submit a headshot and resume at registration.
Registration is set for Sunday, July 21 at 8:00 a.m. in the West Atrium and initial auditions will begin at 9:00 a.m.
The preliminary round will consist of two sets of choreography – one jazz short routine and one hip hop routine.
Dancers will learn the first routine and audition in groups of eight in front of a panel of judges before the first cuts are made. Dancers will then learn a second routine and audition in smaller groups in front of the judges.
Dancers who make it through the second round of cuts will advance to the semi-finals which will be held on Monday, July 22 at Great Lakes Golf & Sports Complex in Auburn Hills (3951 Joslyn Road).
Registration for the semi-finals begins at 5:30 p.m. and auditions start at 6 p.m.
