Detroit Pastor Fuels 'Gas Price Revolution'

DETROIT (WWJ) - For just one weekend, a Detroit pastor is working to fuel what he's calling a "gas price revolution."

WWJ's Kathryn Larson reports on what the pastor's church has done and what he's doing now to help bring the pain at the pump under control.

Impact Church's Senior Pastor Keenann Knox said his congregation doesn't just pray for cheaper gas prices, they are actually doing something about the crisis.

Over Good Friday, instead of holding a service at the church, Pastor Knox provided "full service" at the gas station, bringing gas prices down by 20 cents for a few hours at a Marathon on Mack and Alter roads.

"A lot of people brought all their cars in because it was such a different and historic day in Detroit," Pastor Knox said.

Pastor Knox said they are hoping to do it again over the July 4th holiday weekend, and are looking to get more congregations and gas stations involved.

"Even greater is if we can get a revolution in the city where if we can get business and churches to partner and possibly bring gas prices down," Pastor Knox said.
