Detroit Officer Injured In Accident On I-96
DETROIT (WWJ)- A Detroit police sergeant has been released from the hospital after he was injured in an early morning accident on I-96 near Martin Luther King Blvd.
Detroit Police say the officer lost control of his car, hit the wall or median and his burst into flames.
James Clark who lives nearby heard the crash, and told WWJ's Ron Dewey that he grabbed his camcorder and went outside.
"It was a Samaritan over there that pulled him out of the car. The cop was sitting on the side and the front of the car started burning. It just went up in flames. It burned in like five minutes, just torched, scorched," said Clark.
Eastbound I-96 was closed at MLK but has since reopened.
It was unclear if another vehicle might have been involved in the crash. Police are investigating .
