Detroit Mom Ruled Unfit For Trial In Child's Stabbing Death
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A Detroit mother charged in the death of her 8-year-old daughter has been ruled incompetent to stand trial.
Semeria Greene, 27, was charged with murder and child abuse in the stabbing death of her child.
A judge granted a request Wednesday for an additional mental health exam after prosecutors were dissatisfied with the work of the state Center for Forensic Psychiatry, which declared Greene unfit for trial.
Tamera Greene was found dead in her home on Larned Street near downtown Detroit in late December -- about five weeks after court officials turned down a request by the state to remove Tameria and her siblings from their home.
An autopsy determined that she died of a single stab wound to the chest.
The state wants to end Greene's parental rights to her four remaining children, ages 7, 4, 2 and 1, who are now in the care of Child Protective Services. Child advocacy workers said Tameria's 4-year-old brother told them her witnessed the murder.
The Michigan Department of Human Services is investigating how its caseworkers responded to allegations of abuse.
Greene is being held without bond.
