Detroit Man In Custody After High-Speed Chase

FERNDALE (WWJ) - A 19-year old Detroit man is being held by Ferndale police after allegedly leading cops on a high-speed chase.

Police tried to stop Brandon Lamar Williams late Friday afternoon near Nine Mile and Romeo. Williams allegedly took off, leading officers on a chase through Ferndale and Detroit.

As he drove through open lots between Annin and Carmel, his Ford Explorer got stuck in the snow. Police say Williams continued to flee on foot before he was caught by a Ferndale officer.

The vehicle's passengers were also detained by Detroit and Ferndale officers, but have since been released. Both said they tried to convince their friend not to run from the police.

Police say Williams was driving on a suspended license. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
