Man Ordered Held Without Bond In Death Of Party Store Owner
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ/AP) - A 43-year-old Oak Park man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a popular Farmington Hills convenience store owner.
Farmington Hills police say Cassalle Leroy Nettles was arraigned Tuesday in 47th District Court. The Oakland County prosecutor's office also charged Nettles with using a firearm during a felony, armed robbery and a felon in possession of a firearm.
A customer found 59-year-old Duraid Lossia — known to customers as "Dave" — was shot Saturday afternoon at Tom's Party Store, on Inkster north of 8 Mile, northwest of Detroit.
Farmington Hills police announced the arrest Monday of a suspect in the slaying.
Nettles does not yet have an attorney.
A not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf, and a pre-examination conference was also set for 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 3 before 47th District Court Judge Marla Parker.
Nettles will remain held without bond in the Oakland County Jail pending a Jan. 10 preliminary examination.
Lossia's funeral is set for next Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Mother of God Chaldean Catholic Church in Southfield.
