Detroit Man Charged In Bank Robberies, Assault On Police
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A 21-year-old Detroit man is behind bars, suspected in numerous bank break-ins that began last December.
Police say Alvin Darrell Hall was shot and injured by police when he resisted arrest last Saturday officers on Berg Road near Oliver Court.
According to police, Hall rammed his vehicle into two patrol cars, and then attempted to run down one of the officers who was on foot. Two officers shot at Hall, wounding him in the arm.
Hall was finally arrested a short time later near 8 Mile and Lahser, after he crashed his vehicle during a pursuit.
He has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering, felonious assault and fleeing and eluding.
The two counts of breaking and entering stem from robberies last Tuesday at a Bank of America branch and Saturday at a Comerica Bank branch — both on Telegraph Road.
"I am very pleased with the outcome of this investigation," Southfield Police Chief Eric Hawkins said in a statement. "All of the law enforcement agencies involved worked very hard to identify and apprehend this suspect. I am thankful that no officers or innocent bystanders were hurt, and a dangerous felon was taken off the streets."
The serious of incidents were under investigation by Southfield Police, Detroit Police, Redford Township Police and the FBI. He is also suspected of being responsible for up to 15 other incidents.
Hall was arraigned on Monday at 46th District Court and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
