Detroit Man Charged In BP Stabbing, Beating Attack

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 27-year-old Detroit man has been charged with armed robbery and assault with intent to murder for an attack on a 64-year-old man at a gas station on the city's northwest side.

Maurice Abraham is accused of stabbing and robbing the victim at the BP on the southbound Lodge service drive.

Police said no one tried to help the victim as he was chased back inside the building, stabbed, beaten and robbed of some cash.

Surveillance video distributed by police showed the attacker waiting outside the gas station before confronting the victim. The video shows that the victim was repeatedly punched and stabbed as two other men kept their distance and watched him attempt to fight back and protect himself.

Abraham is being held on $100,000 bond pending his next court appearance at 9 a.m. next Wednesday.

The victim was hospitalized in critical condition with multiple stab wounds.
