Detroit Lions Strategy And Personnel 10-17-11

--DE Kyle Vanden Bosch missed some snaps in the fourth quarter. He sustained a stinger during SS Amari Spievey's interception return. He also had his right knee wrapped in the second half.

--CB Eric Wright missed a couple plays in the fourth quarter with a thigh bruise. He did finish the game.

--P Ryan Donahue had a rough game. It seemed like his timing was off. He was getting caught in between steps and it's a wonder he didn't get any of his eight punts blocked. His hang time was suspect on more than a few, including the 40-yarder that Ted Ginn, Jr., returned to set up the winning score. He had a net of 32.3 yards on the day - a big part of why the 49ers owned the field position battle most of the game.

--WR Calvin Johnson had seven catches for 113 yards (including his 300th career catch), but he was thrown to just once in the seven times the Lions were in the red zone. He wasn't thrown to at all in the seven plays they ran inside the 7-yard line. The 49ers mixed coverages well, but mostly doubled him throughout the game.

--WR Nate Burleson caught his first touchdown pass of the season, but it was initially called incomplete. The back judge ruled he did not complete the process of the catch because he lost the ball in the netting behind the goal post. Replays clearly showed that he secured possession and took three steps in bounds before losing the ball. The call was overturned.
