For whatever reason, the Lions' defense has been slow starting in each game this season. Running back Adrian Peterson ran all over them in the first half Sunday. He gained 73 yards, 43 on one burst. Most of his yardage came on plays where he bounced outside the tackles. In the second half, though, the Lions adjusted and he managed just five yards the rest of the game. The offense stalled right with him. They had five first downs and 108 total yards in the second half. "We just needed to play the way we know how to play," said defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. "We weren't playing Detroit Lions football in the first half. We played as bad as we could play but we turned the tables, made big plays and got back into the game."
LINEUP WATCH
The situation at right tackle continues to be in flux. Gosder Cherilus, benched against Kansas City for an ill-timed personal foul penalty at the end of Week 1, was benched after two series in Minnesota. He whiffed on his block on defensive end Brian Robison that led to one of the five sacks on Stafford. He was replaced by Corey Hilliard, who didn't fare any better. Robison finished with two sacks and three hits. All five sacks were by defensive ends. Jared Allen tormented left tackle Jeff Backus for three sacks. There is no telling which way coach Jim Schwartz will go heading into Dallas. It could be a weekly competition at right tackle.
