'Hungry' Detroit Lions Make Cover Of Sports Illustrated
DETROIT - It's another early-season accomplishment for the Detroit Lions. Calvin Johnson made the cover of the latest edition of Sports Illustrated magazine.
Speaking on 97.1, The Ticket, Lions Coach Jim Schwartz said he does not believe the superstition that "bad luck" follows teams featured on the magazine's cover.
"I'm probably the least superstitious person that I know," said Schwartz. "You know, you win with good players and that are coached well and have good roles on the team and all that different stuff."
"I hate to disappoint anyone, but it's not where someone sits during a game, or any of those other things. None of that matters a whole lot when you get on the field," he said.
The Lions have only been the cover of Sports Illustrated 10 times in their history. The last time was in August of 2004, featuring Barry Sanders.
