Detroit Girl Injured In Crash Dies Days Later
DETROIT (WWJ) - A second child injured in a weekend car crash on Detroit's east side has now died.
The 8-year-old girl, who died Thursday, was riding in a car hit by a 62-year-old Shelby Township man Sunday night. The girl's 2-year-old brother was killed. Their mother, who was driving, also suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Police think the man's vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic on Hoover and Pinewood on the city's east side.
While investigators think he might have been drinking, they also note that the children were not using car seats.
The suspected drunk driver could face charges stemming from the accident. Police say he is in police custody while hospitalized for his injuries.
