Detroit Cop Nominated For VFW's Officer Of The Year Award
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit Police Officer has been named the State of Michigan VFW Officer of the Year. Monica Evans was nominated for the award by her local VFW post earlier this year.
She's an ATF task force officer with the Detroit Police Department and does Youth Violence Prevention work as well.
Evans is now eligible to win the Nation's VFW Officer of the Year award.
In a statement, she says she's happy the department is getting some positive attention because there is always "so much negativity" surrounding it ... and there are many excellent officers working hard.
