Detroit Company Launches 'UpTo' Social App
DETROIT (WWJ) - "What are you up to?" If a new Detroit company has its way we will soon be asking each other that instead of "Are you on Facebook?"
After living and working in New York, Detroit-born Greg Schwartz returned home to Michigan to start "UpTo," a new social networking app.
"This is a social network that integrates with your calendar to focus on future events," Schwartz told WWJ Newsradio 950's Marie Osborne.
Going to your favorite restaurant for lunch? With one click, you can let all of your work colleagues know about it. You determine what information goes out and to whom.
"Open it up and you have the opportunity to see what's coming up in your own life and share different events with specific groups of people," Schwartz said.
The difference is it's about the future, he said. If Facebook is about what you did yesterday and Twitter is about what you are doing now, UpTo is about what you will do tomorrow.
The free app was launched in March for iPhone users and is available for free in the app store. Schwartz said hundreds are already connected.
Droid apps will be available soon.
