Pontiac Man Allegedly Shoots At Deputy Following Attempted Armed Robbery
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac man is facing charges after allegedly taking a shot at an Oakland County Sheriff's detective.
Investigators say the cop was following up on a call involving an attempted armed robbery at a Chase Bank ATM at Baldwin and Yale roads around 11 p.m. Thursday.
When he asked a man to get out of the middle of the road, the person turned and fired a handgun at the detective as he drove by.
The detective wasn't hurt.
Deputies were able to find out who the suspect was and stopped a car in the area a short time later. One of the occupants fit the description of the suspect and he was arrested.
Authorities say the 31-year old could be the same person who was seen walking up to a couple using the ATM. They ran away after seeing the man wearing a dark hoodie and mask and reaching into his pocket.
Charges are pending.
