Denzel Fans: Your Hero Is Back In Action In "The Equalizer"
DETROIT (WWJ) - Denzel Washington is back on the big screen, starring in an action-packed thriller directed by Antoine Fuqua, who also directed Washington in the hit film, "Training Day," for which Washington won an Academy Award.
Washington stars as Robert McCall, a man who has left his past behind and currently leads a quiet, laidback life in Massachusetts. He spends many a sleepless night in a neighborhood diner chatting about books, including one in particular, "The Old Man and the Sea," whose main character correlates to McCall's life.
When a young woman McCall knows (Teri, portrayed by Chloe Grace Moretz) becomes a victim of Russian mobsters, he becomes, once again, a man on a mission: The Equalizer.
The Equalizer is someone you don't want to mess with. He's a one-man killing machine. In the TV series the movie is named after - which ran from 1985-1989 - a top government official says to McCall, "You are the most dangerous man I have ever known." And that, he is. He's so dangerous, in fact, he's like an all-human version of The Terminator.
But unlike the mobsters McCall goes up against, The Equalizer is fighting for justice. He looks out for the people who have no one else looking out for them. With his cool demeanor and easygoing personality (at least until you mess with him), he can hang with any crowd. But that cool, laid-back personality can turn in an instant to someone with a steely gaze that'll take his enemies out in an instant. And once he starts to take on the mob, enemies are not something he finds in short supply.
Denzel fans: the wait is over. This is the weekend to see your hero back in action!
