Demonstrators Rally For Change In Egypt
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) Local organizations are urging US officials to support those in Egypt who are trying to bring democracy to that country.
Part of a national gathering, several dozen supporters of Mubarak's departure from office, come to acknowledge and support the demonstrators in Egypt.
Ola El Syid of Rochester organized the demonstration in Royal Oak. "We want to stand here in support of them...we had five buses that went to Washington, and the message is we want Mubarak to leave office," Syid said.
Another demonstator in Royal Oak, a computer science professor; "He (Mubarak) has to go away for freedom," said Haney Othaman.
In Dearborn, Osama Sibliani with the Congress of Arab American Organizations of Michigan, states he wants the US government to help those in Egypt reach democracy.
"If we supported the people on the street and give them the tools and the support enough to make the change, then we will not be pushing them under the control of an organized group, Muslim Brotherhood, that would take over the government, this is the mistake we made in Iran."
Sibliani says its important to give the Egyptian people the support they need to move toward democracy.
The Congress of Arab American Organizations of Michigan will host a rally in support of a democratic Egypt later Saturday (indoors) in Dearborn.
