Delays On Ambassador Bridge Due To Weather
Hundreds of truckers were being diverted to the Ambassador Bridge, Wednsday, because of the snowy conditions in Canada that forced the closure of the Blue Water Bridge and Highway 402 near Sarnia.
At the foot of the Ambassador Bridge, where the truck traffic was lining up for another long day on the road, WWJ's Ron Dewey heard from one driver, Mike of Howell, who typically takes the Blue Water Bridge.
"I should have started a little earlier. I try to start early so I can get home for dinner, and have an evening and relax," said Mike.
In fact, Monday, Mike tells WWJ he was six hours late getting back home after a long day behind the wheel.
People going to Canada in a regular passenger car are advised to take the Detroit-Windsor tunnel.
Delays as long as two hours were reported for truckers using the Ambassador Bridge. Backups Tuesday night were reported all the way back on the northbound I-75 Rouge River bridge.
The Blue Water Bridge had reopened to commercial truck traffic , and eastbound 402 had reopened to all traffic, by about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
