Delays At Detroit Metro Airport
The installation of new security equipment caused some big delays at Detroit Metro Airport this morning. Some travelers tell WWJ that they had to stand in line at the security checkpoint at the North Terminal for over an hour. Spokesman for the airport, Mike Conway addressed the delay for passengers, "...when you take an entire check-point out during a very, very busy time and with heavy load factors; the line is going to back-up. My understanding is that the maximum wait time was 50 minutes this morning."
One of the frustrated travelers, Sarah Musil from Ypsilanti missed her flight after standing in line at the security checkpoint at the North Terminal for an hour and 15 minutes and then four more hours to get rebooked. Musil said they told her it was heightened security that was the issue, not new security scanners.
"The airline should have called to let us know to be there earlier because of the heightened security." Musil said to WWJ.
