Deer Hunter Fatally Shot By Brother
HINTON TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a deer hunter was fatally shot in mid-Michigan by his brother, who was hunting nearby.
The Mecosta County Sheriff's Department said the 26-year-old man from Hinton Township was found shot to death in a deer blind Wednesday night.
Investigators say the man was killed by a gunshot from his 23-year-old brother who was hunting in the same area.
The shooting happened in Hinton Township, about 50 miles northeast of Grand Rapids, on the second day of Michigan's 16-day firearm deer hunting season.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources expects about 675,000 hunters to bag about 200,000 of the state's 1.6 million deer during firearm season.
An investigation is ongoing. Names were not immediately released.
