Decomposing Body Found Near Ann Arbor's Pioneer High School
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Ann Arbor police are investigating after a decomposing body was found in a wooded area just south of a high school football field.
Sgt. Craig Flocken said police do not believe the deceased person — a man — is a student.
"There was gonna be a controlled burn in an area south of Pioneer High School," Flocken told WWJ Newsradio 950.
"This is an annual or semi-annual event where they do this controlled burn, and, during the setup, some of the contractors noticed a small camp area in what was going to be the burn area; and, upon further investigation, they did find a subject that was deceased at that camp area."
Flocken said was no obvious reason to suspect foul play.
"At this time it's still under investigation, but initial signs are not leading to such," Flocken said.
Investigators are working to identify the man, who police believe may have been homeless. They believe the body may have been there as long as a month.
