LANSING (AP) - Michigan says the seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate is down statewide and in 14 of the 17 major regional labor markets.

The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth released the December figures Thursday. It says regional rates ranged from 6.6 percent in the Ann Arbor region to 14.8 percent in Northeast Lower Michigan.

Statewide, the unadjusted rate was down 0.7 points to 10.6 percent last month. The rate was 11.3 percent in November and 14.3 percent in December 2009.

The seasonally adjusted December unemployment rate for Michigan that was announced earlier was 11.7 percent in December, fourth-highest in the nation behind Nevada, California and Florida.

The national seasonally adjusted rate was 9.4 percent.
