Debt, "Do-Gooders" & The Best Beatles Song Ever (?)

Many of us are really trying to dig ourselves out of debt.

Credit rating  company Transunion says American consumers have cut their credit card debt sharply in the second quarter.

The average balance is now $4,900.  That's down 13.5%  in the second quarter of this year.

That's an eight year low.

Do-gooders at work won't win any popularity contests.

Four separate studies show that unselfish workers who are the first to offer to help with projects at work, are among the least popular with co-workers.

In the most recent study, psychologists from Washington State University found that unselfish colleagues raise the "expectations bar"--and workers feel the new standard will make everyone else look bad.

How do the do-gooders  react to being rejected?

Experts say while some may have ulterior motives, it's more likely they actually are working for the good of an organization, and the jealousy and resentment don't bother them.

The paper published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
