Debbie Dingell Calls Out Madonna For Not Being Proud Of Being A 'Michigan Girl'

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Congresswoman Debbie Dingell took to social media Tuesday to state her displeasure with Madonna bashing her home state in interviews.
The pop star has gone on the Howard Stern show and stated that she couldn't go back to her hometown of Rochester Hills because of the type of people who live there.
"Have you ever been to Rochester, Michigan? "I just didn't want to go back. I can't be around basic, provincial-thinking people," she told Stern.
She also told "US Weekly" that she misses "absolutely nothing about growing up in Michigan."
After all this bashing, the first-term member of Congress took to Facebook to defend Michigan.
"Enough already Madonna!," she wrote. "I am tired of Madonna and her cheap shots at Michigan and her hometown .....I love this state, the people, my friends (some since grade school),the weather ( yes all four seasons), sports(lions, Tigers, red wings, the pistons, a big ten football game, MSU in the sweet 16) the music ( maybe not hers), the water, floating down the river in an inner tube, freighters, cars, universities, the food and diversity of it, ethnic cultures and neighborhoods, and the realness of the people I know and love...intense, passionate, opinionated.......the ups and downs are life and prepare us for the future....but there is always a community to back you up, try to help and struggle with you in tough times and celebrate good times......but this is my home, my roots, a michigan car girl born and bred and she certainly never learned what the nuns taught me....if you cannot say something nice don't."
Dingell added that "Michigan contributed to her success....we don't take shots at her, her style, her life.....so something good must have happened here ....."
The Dearborn Democrat is the lastest to come out to support the state and Rochester after Madonna made her comments.
Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett wrote a letter to the Material Girl and invited her back to see how the city has changed since she left decades ago.
NASCAR champion Brad Keselowski, and Rochester Hills native, took to Twitter to defend his hometown.
And while Madonna may not be proud of her roots, Dingell is.
"I am and always will be a Michigan girl, quit bad mouthing us.....!!!!!," she wrote.
