Dearborn police seeking tips regarding fatal road rage shooting on Tireman Avenue

Police in Dearborn, Michigan, continue to investigate a road rage incident that became fatal, with a 19-year-old woman from nearby Dearborn Heights losing her life. 

The shooting happened about 9:45 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Tireman Avenue and West Morrow Circle. According to reports at the time, the driver in a white 2015 Chrysler 200 allegedly cut off the woman, who was driving a black 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 

Police believe the woman followed the Chrysler onto Tireman Avenue and Southfield Service Drive in an attempt to get a license plate number. 

But as both vehicles reached the intersection of Tireman Avenue and West Morrow Circle, the Chrysler turned onto Cheyenne Street and several gunshots were fired. 

One of the bullets went through the windshield of the Jeep, causing the fatal injury. The two passengers in the Jeep were not injured. 

Police did detain three people of interest after the shooting.  

Two of them remain in custody on unrelated charges, the third person was released pending further investigation. 

"We continue to devote manpower and investigative resources and work with partner agencies to gather evidence in this ongoing investigation. Seeking justice and accountability for the victim in this heinous act remains our priority," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said in the press release. "We urge the community to please contact us anonymously with any and all information that can help us achieve this goal."
