Deadly Rollover Accident On I-94
DETROIT (WWJ) - A rollover accident on westbound I-94 at the entrance ramp to the Lodge Freeway Saturday morning left two people dead.
Michigan State Police Sergeant Nathaniel McQueen told WWJ Newsradio 950 the accident happened around 5:00 am.
"There were four individuals inside of the vehicle, two in the front seat and two in the back. The two persons in the backseat were ejected from the vehicle during the course of the rollover. The two individuals, one was a male approximately 25 years of age and one was a female approximately 23 years of age, both of them were pronounced dead at the scene," McQueen said.
The accident had I-94 completely closed for about two hours, while authorities conducted an investigation. McQueen said it is unclear at this point what caused the accident.
"We haven't made any determinations as to what caused the rollover accident. Of course, it's all preliminary. The investigation is ongoing. We probably won't have any inconclusive information regarding what the factors were leading up to the accident until early next week."
The victim's identities have not yet been released. The other two people in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
