DDOT Bus Crashes In Highland Park, Driver Taken Away In Ambulance [PHOTOS]

HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - Authorities say a Detroit Department of Transportation bus was involved in an accident that left one of its drivers injured.

The accident happened around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday at Woodward Avenue and Manchester in Highland Park.

A City of Detroit pickup truck, DDOT bus, and Dodge Ram 1500 truck were involved in the crash. Highland Park Police Sgt. Veronica Collins said it appears the Dodge truck might have been at fault.

"They were going eastbound on Manchester -- the bus driver and city of Detroit truck came through the light going southbound -- they disregarded that the light was red -- they had the light was green -- and he t-boned them," Collins told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

The driver of the Dodge was placed in the back of a squad car, and police say charges are pending.

The bus driver was taken away from the scene in an ambulance; their current condition is unknown. Two passengers were on the bus; both were uninjured.

An investigation is ongoing.
