CBS DETROIT - Star center Pavel Datsyuk will miss at least the next two games with a lower-body injury, Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock said Wednesday.
Babcock said Datsyuk will not make the trip to Florida, where the Red Wings will play the Florida Panthers on Thursday and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday. With 93 points, Tampa Bay is one of two teams ahead of Detroit in the division standings.
Babcock did not say whether Datsyuk will be available for Sunday's home game against the St. Louis Blues.
Datsyuk, a perennial All-Star selection, has 23 goals and 35 assists in 57 games this season.
Only 14 games remain before the playoffs begin, and the Red Wings had lost four of their last five games before breaking out of the skid Sunday with a win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Detroit currently sits in third place in the Atlantic Division with 87 points.
