Dash-Cam Video Clears Detroit Man Of Most Claims Made By Inkster Police
INKSTER (WWJ) - Most of the charges have been dropped against a Detroit man who says he was beaten by Inkster police during a traffic stop in January.
A judge dismissed the charges of fleeing police and resisting arrest after viewing police dash-cam video--which has gone viral.
Floyd Dent, 57, speaking out Wednesday describes the stop by police.
"I put my arms outside the door - an officer ran up to me with his gun and told me 'get out of the car or I'll blow your brains out.' Then somebody grabbed me - I don't know which one grabbed me - grabbed me and threw me on the ground. First he told me 'get on the ground' then they just snatched me - threw me on the ground and started beating me," described Dent.
Dent told WWJ's Stephanie Davis Wednesday says he is relieved.
"I'm just getting emotional after what I had to go through. And where I'm at now, I can't believe it," said Dent.
"While the guy was beating me I was protecting my face - with my right arm - I guess somebody came and kicked me in the ribs - I heard somebody in the background say 'taz the M-F,' you know, while I was on the ground."
Dent is facing a drug charge after police say they found cocaine in his vehicle. He says the drugs were planted.
Calls to Inkster police for a response to the story have not been returned.
One of the officers involved has been placed on paid leave. Michigan State Police are investigating.
