Dallas 102, Pistons 99
AUBURN HILLS (97.1 THE TICKET/AP) - Brandon Knight scored a team high 21 points but it wasn't enough as the Detroit Pistons fall to the Dallas Mavericks 102-99 on Friday night.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - Greg Monroe, who was questionable for tonight's game due to a sprained left ankle suffered in practice Tuesday, was one of two Pistons that locked up a double/double scoring 14 points and adding 10 rebounds, Jason Maxiell had 12 pts. and 13 rebounds for the night.
Detroit rallied in the final minutes but couldn't overcome the hole dug early - with the Pistons falling 10 plus points during the game.
O.J. Mayo scored 22 points and the Mavericks held on to beat the Pistons when Charlie Villanueva missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds.
Dallas began the night 4 1/2 games behind eighth-place Utah in the race for the last playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Mavericks blew a 15-point lead in the fourth quarter, allowing Detroit to go ahead 97-96 on a 3-pointer by Khris Middleton.
Dirk Nowitzki made two straight shots to put Dallas ahead by three. It was 100-99 after Villanueva caught Jose Calderon's airball and made a layup with 6 seconds left.
Darren Collison made two free throws for the Mavericks, and Villanueva missed from the left corner.
