Dad Relieved To Hear From Son In Japan
MONROE (WWJ) - A Monroe family is relieved, after finally making contact with their son in Japan. Peter Fales has been trying to reach his son, Paul, who's a teacher there.
WWJ spoke with the dad, who described the conditions there in Japan:
"He just described things that, in general, we've seen in many of the photographs from the various news reports. He just said it is devastating," says Peter Fales, father of Paul.
"Now, he has spent the last three days on an island with a couple of schools on it - which is right across from the city. I think that made him a little bit safer," adds Peter.
Peter Fales' son has been a teacher in Japan since the beginning of the year, and is under a two-year contract. He's a 2010 graduate of Eastern Michigan University.
