CVS Requires ID To Purchase Nail Polish Remover

DETROIT (WWJ) - A national drugstore chain says it plans to start carding customers when they buy a particular product in the beauty aisle.
CVS Pharmacy says it will require customers to be at least 18-years-old with valid ID to buy nail polish remover that contains acetone. The store also said it will limit the amount of polish remover customers can buy.
It's a move to crack down on production of methamphetamine -- an illegal, highly addictive stimulant. Acetone is a key ingredient in the production of crystal meth.
In recent years, the federal government has passed laws that require pharmacies to ask for ID when customers buy cold and allergy medicines containing pseudoephedrine, another key ingredient in meth manufacturing.
