Crowne Plaza Hotel In Detroit Ready To Welcome Guests
DETROIT (WWJ) - The high-rise hotel near Cobo Center in downtown Detroit, formerly the Hotel Pontchartrain, is now open as the Crowne Plaza Detroit.
David Brown of Detroit was checking it out Sunday looking for a site for a USC college reunion.
"A lot of people from the city are coming to check it out," said Brown.
Brown is hoping to find the best deal with the best amenities for his college friends.
"I think they are going to do pretty well," he said. "Right next to Cobo and they are doing renovations here, by the time the auto show comes this winter - it's a pretty easy fix - I'm sure they'll be booked."
The Crowne Plaza Detroit is still being expanded and renovated to the tune of $277 million dollars. A grand opening is expected in September.
