Crime Stoppers Offers Reward For Tips In Stabbing Death Of Father To Four
GARDEN CITY (WWJ) - Ahead of father's day this weekend, a local family is desperately looking for information in the murder of their own father.
Garden City Police say will not turn into yesterday's news. And Lieutenant Michael Tacket says they believe their best hope of finding Curtis "Bud" Scott's killer ... is to find the driver of the getaway van that sped off shortly after the incident last.
"The clock is ticking and he needs to act rather than try to protect his friend," said Lt. Tacket.
Curtis Scott spoke out about the tragedy during a Crime Stoppers meeting Friday. His son was fatally stabbed in the Roma Banquet parking lot on Cherry Hill near Venoy last Thursday.
Scott says the 43-year old father to four had a heart of gold ... despite his short stature:
"Although he was four-foot eleven - my wife is only four-foot ten - and my daughter is only four-foot six - he was still the biggest man I ever knew," said Scott.
His father said Curtis fought hard for his life; chasing the car with suspects inside.
"He ran after the van -- (that) was pulling away, approximately fifty feet, after being stabbed through the heart," said his father.
Scott's mother Donna said they are urging anyone with information on that driver and the van described as an early 90's maroon Ford Windstar to come forward.
"I never dreamed in my life, that anyone I ever knew would be murdered," said his mom. "That's not the way it's supposed to go."
Anyone with information on the crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800- SPEAKUP. Your tip could be worth up to $3,500.
