Crews Work To Repair Massive Sinkhole On Detroit's West Side [PHOTOS]
DETROIT (WWJ) - Crews are working to make repairs to a "ginormous" sinkhole on Detroit's west side.
Authorities say the sinkhole at Tireman just west of Greenfield Road is the result of a collapsed sewer pipe. WWJ's Laura Bonnell described it as the size of a small bus, and said it measures about 6 to 8 feet deep and 4 feet wide.
Crews immediately went to work repairing the sinkhole after it was discovered Thursday afternoon. Officials said Friday morning they're not sure how long repairs are going to take.
Until further notice, Tireman is closed as well as the sidewalk along the area. Beyond the closures, there are no reports that homes and businesses are affected at this time.
