Crews Work Through Weekend To Clean Gas Spill
INGHAM COUNTY (WWJ) - Crews will work through the weekend to clean up 126,000 gallons of gasoline that were lost in a leak from a storage tank system in Ingham County.
Nearly 200 workers are assigned to deal with the situation in White Oak Township.
So far, an estimated 19,000 gallons of blend grade gasoline has been recovered, according to Marathon Pipe Line, which owns the storage system.
Crews have been working to clean up the spill since April 13, maintaining sorbent booms and pads which have been controlling the spread of the gasoline.
There is no estimate on the cost of the cleanup. At this time, water well testing has shown no evidence of contamination to drinking water in the area.
