Crews Called To Few Fires After Michigan State Wins Rose Bowl
EAST LANSING (WWJ) - Officials said overall, it was "fairly quiet" in the hometown of the Spartans after Michigan State's 24-20 victory over Stanford in the Rose Bowl.
East Lansing firefighters responded to five fires following the game, four of which were couches or other furniture set ablaze in the middle of the street.
Firefighters said the fires started within minutes of the end of the game, but all were rather small and quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported and no arrests were made.
It's a far cry from the rowdy celebration that took place last month after Michigan State defeated Ohio State in the Big Ten championship, when more than 50 fires were set and dozens were arrested.
